Gwich’in Tribal Council calls for review over ‘lenient’ sentence in killing of 17-year-old

A 16-year-old boy was sentenced to two years in jail and one year in community supervision for the death of Brandy Vittrekwa

The 16-year-old boy who pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of Brandy Vittrekwa was sentenced to two years in jail and one year in community supervision.

The sentence handed down in Whitehorse has disappointed family and the Gwich’in Tribal Council, who say it’s too lenient.
