Another court decision is forcing the federal government to amend the Indian Act.

The Descheneaux decision means that sex based inequities in registration under the Indian Act must be eliminated.

The government’s most recent response is Bill S-3.  But that Bill was rejected by the Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples.
