But the show also has its critics.
Some people in the Yukon want the show to change its name.

Dear Some Canadians, so you think that all the native and rural people who live on the Yukon River have no right to feel they can use the name Yukon to describe themselves also I bet. Cannot believe the Canadian government would lend legitimacy to this childishness. As an American I would never think of denying a Canadian the right to feel good about being from the Yukon Territory. You sound like a 10 year old. On the trapping methods – they are all legal in Alaska where the show is and they clearly state they are filming. You sound more like PETA than anything. Leave our trapping alone mind your own business – oh forgot our business is yours.
