Woman arrested in connection with suspicious death in northern Manitoba

Manitoba RCMP have charged a 35-year-old woman with manslaughter in connection with the death of a 40-year-old woman.

Mounties say in a release it happened in the small town of Lynn Lake, located about 1,000 km northwest of Winnipeg, on Feb. 2.

They say there were called to the outskirts of the community at around 8:10 a.m. where they found a 40-year-old woman, who was pronounced dead.

Autopsy results show the woman was the victim of a homicide, RCMP said in a release.

Kara Francois, 35, was arrested on Feb. 3 and charged with manslaughter.

Leaf Rapids RCMP, along with RCMP Major Crime Services, continue to investigate.

The victim’s name has not been released.
