I listened to Elder Robinson speak and I have respect for him. I have learned much about aboriginal issues and problem with much sympathy. I have a much better understanding than I did before.

But I am going to challenge Elder Robinson on his assertion that the nurse he saw in the hospital was racist. I have had to use hospital services a number of times recently and I also had to deal with surly and irritable medical professionals who made me want to leave and that wasn’t a racist response. People don’t seem to realize how vulnerable people feel anymore when they go to the hospital.

I don’t know about Elder Robinson’s experience with hospitals in general but I have not had to use those services for several decades and I was shocked at how unfriendly they have become. I wonder if this reflects the state of medical services in general rather than a racist response.

    1. well i can tell you there is racism in hospitals still although it is getting better but theres still progress to be made. More recently there was a native fellow who died from being ignored to death at a hospital. But i do agree with you that staff is unfriendly at times i think from stress and all the problems they face with our health care system so its unfriendly and racism sometimes but not always.

  2. Great warrior and speech. But I kind find it weird there is a join the CANADIAN forces advertisement on the side.

  3. words right from your heart you spoke the truth very rare these days your words have lifted my spirit even to greater heights i stand with you i am a grandfather too and know how precious they are to everyone YAW^KO

  4. You are more than free to join us in society. This whole ramble coming from the person that accused a nurse of being racist for asking intake questions. You see no colours. No one asked you to sacrifice…this was your choice. These bills will kill us all???? Did you even hear the foolisness coming out of your mouth???

    1. why do you always come on here spewing your hate its disgusting. Why come on aptn a native program because your so anti native isnt sun news forums more your style your views will be shared there.

      1. I don’t know anything about that other guy Teresa, but I didn’t come here to cause problems or insult people. I’m still trying to understand what is going on and it seems to me that you talk to people directly about that rather than listening to the way the news is reported in the main stream media. I have friends who are status and they come for dinner and cards every other weekend; but I don’t know anyone who lives on reserve.

I’ve watched a movie once in a while but I’ve never watched the news. .It’s a pretty good channel you know.

You see, I don’t know what you mean when you say that Canadians think they own all the land. I have never thought that. I don’t have a concept of owning the land, except for my house (which actually the bank owns, until I pay it off LOL). I have a small house which I own with my elderly parents. I bought the house with them when my dad retired because I was worried that they didn’t have enough finances to live in a comfortable fashion without worrying about money all the time.

In terms of the land; I think we have a custodial responsibility and yes I agree that any resource development should be shared by some formula that allows native people to prosper and achieve independence. I’m not even sure who is a partner in the sharing. Is it the company that wants to develop the resources? I’m not sure how I fit in here or if I fit in at all.

    1. the supreme court of canada and parliment has admitted those treaties were fradulent that is not what us agreed on if treaties are no longer all of those treaties should be null and void and all the land in the treaties have to be returned to the first nations the whole idea of the treaties was to share the land there never was sharing the govt and canadians have most of the land and want more their greed as no limits

  5. Theirs a chief that stand up for all the native telling Canadians to pay attention , the government is poisoning our waters, Idle No More
