A rising First Nations boxing star was killed in a car accident Sunday night.

A rising First Nations boxing star was killed in a car accident Sunday night.

Jonathan Andre, who is originally from Fort McPherson, NT., was killed after he was struck by a car in Edmonton.

Andre, 30, was a two-time Alberta amateur champion.

He made his professional debut last year. He was 2-0 as a pro.

Police said the vehicle that hit Andre may have been racing.

No charges have yet been laid.
