Ottawa’s homeless feel forgotten in the shadow of Parliament

Indigenous peoples comprise only two per cent of Ottawa’s population.

But they represent one quarter of the city’s estimated 600-member homeless population.

Some of them, who find temporary shelter amid the highrises in the nation’s capital, say they feel forgotten by the federal government.

Originally from the Cree Nation of Chisasibi on the eastern coast of James Bay, Quebec, Jamie has lived in Ottawa since 2015.
