“What are government officials doing?” Why is it the governments problem to deal with PERSONAL problems resulting from the underlying culture problems in the north?!? (drinking problems, teen pregnancy, Fetal alcohol syndrome, domestic abuse, animal abuse, the list goes on and on) My mom is an alcoholic who has attempted suicide and I sure don’t blame the government…..why should you? If alcohol is the initiating cause of many issues up north, the communities need to do the right thing for their people and ban alcohol consumption. Don’t blame and lean on the government, come up with your own social programs, have weekly community culture days, provide suicide and drinking awareness talks in schools. As aboriginals you need to bring aboriginal culture back to communities.
