Over 1,200 firefighters from across Canada have joined the battle against wildfires in Alberta.

More than 800 were still burning Wednesday night and nearly two dozen are out of control.

In the Slave Lake area along, over 7,000 people have been forced from their homes and hundreds are being housed in the small town of Athabasca, Alta.

That’s where APTN National News reporter Keith Laboucan travelled there to get a first-hand look at the situation.
