‘Completely unacceptable’: reports say Alberta’s child welfare system has failed Indigenous youth

Just 10 per cent of the province’s children are Indigenous, they represent 69 per cent of the kids in care

The watchdog for Alberta’s most vulnerable children and families says there is “something wrong” with the province’s child welfare system.

Two reports from the auditor general and child advocate outline why Alberta has one of the highest rates of children in care across the country.
