The South Indian Lake RCMP say they’ve made an arrest in the death of Noreen Tait.

Philip Soulier, 50, of O-Pipon-Na-Piwin Cree Nation was arrested March 6 and charged with manslaughter.

Tait, 47, was brought to the South Indian Lake nursing station on Feb. 19 with severe injuries.

At a news conference on Feb. 27, Tait’s family said that her death highlighted the need for more resources in the community.

“Noreen has left a huge void in our hearts,” she said. “The senseless way her life was taken is difficult to comprehend and devastating to the family,” said her sister Arla Tait-Linklater.
