Anti-homeless benches send the wrong message: Advocates

The benches are designed to discourage homeless people from sticking around, critics say.

Homeless advocates and frontline workers in Montreal took to social media Thursday to blast the city’s installation of new “anti-homeless” benches in Cabot Square.

The blue benches have armrests in the middle that prevent anyone from laying down.

It’s the latest in a series of bench blunders that Mayor Valerie Plante blamed on the previous city administration.
