After 40 lay offs in the Liard First Nation the former chief says he left office with money in the bank

Two weeks ago in the Liard First Nation in the Yukon laid off 40 staff members.

The reason, they say, they’re broke.

The lay offs come just weeks after a newly elected council has taken over the troubled First Nation.

But the former chief says he left office with money in the bank.
