Sheila North to run for AFN national chief

Sheila North has officially announced she is running for national chief of the Assembly of First Nations. The grand chief of the Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak (MKO), a group representing 30 First Nations in the province, is the third candidate to throw her hat in the ring.

The Enoch Cree Nation, a community west of Edmonton, near the heart of Alberta’s oil industry, is one of 43 First Nation and Metis communities that has signed a mutual benefit agreement to twin the existing Trans Mountain pipeline to Burnaby, B.C.
