What are some of Canada’s journalism schools doing to teach Indigenous affairs?

Less than a month ago, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission released 94 recommendations in its summary report.

They were aimed at the federal government, provinces and organizations.

That includes schools where journalists learn their trade.

According to the TRC, Canadian journalism programs need to be revamped.

The hope is to bridge the rift between reporters and Indigenous communities.

Julien Gignac attended journalism school at Carleton University.

He is currently at an intern at APTN in Ottawa and looks at what schools are doing.
