Amnesty International recognizes APTN tuberculosis documentary

Holly Moore picked up the Amnesty International Canada media video award Thursday night in Toronto.

Moore, producer for APTN Investigates, was recognized for her 2017 documentary The Cure Was Worse about the treatment of Canada’s Indigenous peoples in ‘Indian Hospitals’ or southern sanatoriums.

She was among the journalists honoured for outstanding effort to increase awareness of human rights issues.

For her story, Moore travelled across Canada to interview survivors and their loved ones and shine a light on this dark chapter in the country’s history.

“Moore brings us a moving investigation into unanswered questions,” said juror Lynda Calvert, “and the search for healing.”
