Jury selection to begin for re-trial of Cindy Gladue case in Edmonton

Jury selection will begin later this week in Edmonton for the re-trial of an Ontario trucker who was previously acquitted of killing 36-year-old Cindy Gladue back in 2011. A jury acquitted Bradley Barton in 2015, triggering nationwide protests over the verdict. The case also put issues of sexual violence and consent in the spotlight along with how Indigenous victims are portrayed in court.
