The National Energy Board has given a green light for an increase of 27,000 barrels of oil to pass daily through the Trans-Mountain pipeline which run from refineries in Edmonton to Burnaby, B.C.
The area round the controversial Prosperity mine site was once a no-go zone for development. The provincial government put a stop to much smaller projects a few years ago citing concerns over fish habitat and First Nations rights.
