Young boy dead after shooting in Manitoba

An 11-year old boy is dead after a shooting on the Garden Hill First Nation in Manitoba.

According to the RCMP, three young boys were playing in a house when they located a firearm.

A 12-year old boy was handling the firearm when it was fired striking and killing the 11-year old.

Police said the firearm was improperly stored and a 12-year-old is charged with criminal negligence causing death and careless use of a firearm.

His father will be charged with careless storage of a firearm.

Garden Hill First Nation is a signatory of Treaty 5 and is a fly in community about 600 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg.

It has a population of about 5,000 on reserve.

    In my reserve here these people have to look after their kids more better then this..hope it’s not a family member out there.:(
