Winnipeg police concerned for missing Aboriginal sisters

Winnipeg police need the public’s help in locating two missing Aboriginal sisters who have been missing a week.

Police said Mary-Anee Hudson, 12, and Nakita Hudson, 14, were spotted in the St. James area in the afternoon of Aug. 26, but there has been other spottings of the sisters in the last couple of days.

Investigators say they’re “concerned for the wellbeing” of the girls who are known to frequent the city’s north end, shopping malls and the Polo Park area.

Mary-Anne is described as 5-foot-5 and 110 pounds, with long brown hair and brown eyes.

Nakita is 5- foot-4 about 100 pounds, with red hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Winnipeg police missing person unit at 204-986-6250.

    Why would it matter that they are aboriginal ? Does that make them more/less important?

    1. What an obnoxious comment. Have you seen or heard anything lately about missing or murdered aboriginal women? Might you have picked up the information anywhere that aboriginal women are far more likely to go missing or be murdered than other women in Canada? Did you know that people want an official inquiry into the missing or murdered aboriginal women in Canada? Had you, perchance, heard that a young aboriginal girl was recently found murdered in the river in Winnipeg? So yeah. It does matter.
