On August 2, 2008, Craig McDougall was fatally shot by a Winnipeg police officer. They claimed that McDougall had been carrying a knife; a group of Aboriginal leaders later revealed that he’d been carrying a silver cell phone, not a weapon.

An investigation was ordered into the actions of the police, but it’s still incomplete. Meanwhile, a private investigator hired by McDougall’s community has completed his investigation in less than two weeks.

APTN National News reporter Tiar Wilson has the story.
