Two Mi’kmaw candidates face off for federal votes in N.S.

Two Mi’kmaw candidates are vying for the same federal riding in Nova Scotia, which is home to two, larger Mi’kmaw communities.

NDP candidate Jeff Ward, a traditional cultural knowledge keeper, is running to unseat Liberal incumbent Jaime Battiste in the riding of Sydney-Victoria.

Battiste made history in the 2019 election by being the first Mi’kmaw elected to the House of Commons.
