Students fleeing flood in Kashechewan left high and dry by Aboriginal Affairs

APTN National News
As of Wednesday, most of the Kashechewan First Nation in Ontario is empty.

Officials ordered everyone out of the community on the James Bay coast because of the threat of severe flooding.

It’s the fourth year in a row that flooding has forced the evacuation of the entire community.

The move is especially hard on high school students who, instead of preparing for their future, are learning to live like refugees.

APTN’s Annette Francis travelled to one of the evacuation centres in Kapuskasing, Ontario.
