Status card rejection leads to offer to visit First Nation

When an older Indigenous status card was rejected as identification for a driver’s licence, an Alberta woman decided to do something about it.

Anita Large marched to the provincial registry office in St. Paul, Alta., 150 km west of Edmonton, with supporters to find out why.

Especially after she was able to get her licence renewed at a different registry office in a nearby town using the same card.
