The Senate Aboriginal peoples committee was in Edmonton recently as part of a tour of Northern and Western communities.
They’ve invited speakers from across the prairies to talk about what it means to be Metis.
This is the first fact-finding study of Metis identity ever undertaken in Canada.
The committee is also meeting with elders and leaders of Metis organizations.
The panel chair says the Metis share common challenges across the country.
For sure the Senate is a waste of tax dollars.
