Sen. Patrick Brazeau's court case put over to October

APTN National News
Senator Patrick Brazeau didn’t show up at court Monday morning, but had his lawyer push allegations against him of assault and sexual assault over to October.

Brazeau sought a delay so his defence team could look over police photographs.

The Senator will be back in court on Oct. 9 where a trial date may be set.

Brazeau has been on bail since pleading not guilty Feb. 8 after Gatineau police allege he assaulted a woman.

Police were called to Brazeau’s Gatineau residence for a domestic disturbance.

Crown attorney Sylvain Petitclerc said he didn’t understand why Brazeau needed more time to look at photographs.

Petitclerc said he expected a trial date to be set Monday.

Brazeau left the Conservative caucus after being charged.

He was also put on forced leave pending the outcome of the charges.

Brazeau is also accused of filling bad expense claims and an audit showed he had to pay back about $48,000 in housing allowances.

He is refusing to pay stating the Senate approved of his expenses.
