Quebec Premier Jean Charest’s Plan Nord is getting a lukewarm reception in some Aboriginal communities in the province.

On Monday, Charest launched his ambitious 25-year project to develop northern parts of Quebec where 27 per cent of the population is Aboriginal.

Some Aboriginal communities, however, feel that plans for the development of their traditional lands pose some political problems.
