Quebecois playwright under fire for casting Indigenous play without Indigenous actors

One of Canada’s most celebrated artists is once again under fire for how he cast actors in his plays.

Just weeks ago, Robert Lepage was criticized by members of Montreal’s Black community for casting white actors in a play about slavery.

This time around, Lepage is facing similar criticism from the Indigenous community.

    1. I hardly think it is as extreme as that. The number of opportunities that indigenous people have to play roles that represent them are slim to begin with. There is no reason or excuse for not identifying and using indigenous talent to tell their own stories. The industry will survive.
