As many know INAC was told to get an extension regarding their proposed Bill S-3 amendments as many of the invited guests and women’s organizations where not happy with the INAC “information sessions” which were supposed to be “consultations sessions. While this is an important shift we must not forget what Minister Carolyn Bennett stated during the Senate discussions. Listen here…

  2. Here’s my beef with this, if a non First Nations woman puts no one down on birth certificate as the father the government does not change the racial status of that child so why then if a First Nations woman puts no one down as the father is the racial status changed to a lower status than the mother?? Why do we have to prove who we are?? If we say we are and our child is First Nations then that should be as good as anyone else claiming Irish or Chinese or East Indian. Why is our word less than any other Canadian??? This is our home country yet we are the ONLY People’s that have to Prove Who We Are!
