Poundmaker chief, eight others face charges over treaty money

A complaint from a member of the Poundmaker First Nation in June 2004 has led to several charges being laid.

A complaint from a member of the Poundmaker First Nation in June 2004 has led to several charges being laid.

The accused are charged with misspending treaty land entitlement funds.

Chief Duane Antoine is being charged with two counts of theft over $5,000, two counts of fraud over $5,000, two counts of breach of trust by a public official and criminal breach of trust.

A total of 47 charges are also being laid against eight other people.

They will make their first court appearance in Cutknife provincial court on Aug. 16.
