NWAC denied funding, cannot participate in BC inquiry

The province of BC has denied funding for women’s groups to participate in the Missing Women Commission of Inquiry.

The inquiry is examining the police investigations into convicted serial killer Robert Pickton, who confessed to killing 49 women abducted from Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside — many of whom were aboriginal.

NWAC, the Native Women’s Association of Canada, was the only national aboriginal women’s group planning to participate.

APTN National News reporter Wayne Roberts has the details.
