Nunavut ignoring its own rules for foster parents: Auditor General

Canada’s auditor general came down hard on the government of Nunavut stating that the territory is ignoring its own rules when it comes to foster families. One example given is that according to the law, foster parents are supposed to have criminal record checks prior to being handed charges.

As APTN’s Kent Driscoll tells us, there’s a danger to not following procedures.

  1. So somebody is taking the position that the rules don’t have to be followed. Why would anyone want to put children’s health and safety at risk? Maybe they have other priorities.
