That was one of the findings in an independent investigation into the Mi’kmaq woman’s death.

She died after becoming ill while in the Truro lock-up.

Her family says police ignored signs that she was in distress.

Cheryl Maloney is the president of the Nova Scotia Native Women’s Association.
