MMIW gathering in Vancouver focuses on children abused in care

The report found dozens of Indigenous girls in care have been sexually abused.

Hundreds gathered at the annual Sisters in Spirit candle light vigil in Vancouver and listened to families speak about their missing loved ones.

But the latest report by the British Columbia’s Child Advocate Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond was on everyone’s mind.

The report found dozens of Indigenous girls in care have been sexually abused.
