Lynn Gehl’s Indian status challenge begins in Toronto court

An Ontario Women is taking the federal government to court.

It’s a section 15 constitutional challenge dealing with unstated paternity for Indian status.

The case is expected to run until Wednesday.

APTN’s Delaney Windigo was in court and has this story.

    It’s sad to see the verbal diarrhea going on in regards to this article. It’s a damn shame that we turn on each other like this. I’ve said this before, we work with what we have and those tools include political alliances, Parliament, Canadian Law and
    the Indian Act. I have a great respect for Lynn who has worked long to try and correct this injustice not only for herself but for other aboriginals walking her path and for those that come after.
