Lake St. Martin evacuees feeling “unwelcome” in Winnipeg

Lake St. Martin First Nation was swept away in the 2011 spring floods. The buildings were wiped out, and all of the community members were evacuated.

A new, temporary village is being built while the people of Lake St. Martin wait in hotels in Winnipeg. But they say their stay is becoming uncomfortable.
