Justice served for family of Dawns Baptiste as killer sentenced to life

The man convicted of sexually assaulting, and killing Dawns Baptiste was sentenced to life in prison Monday.

Curtis Healy was convicted of first-degree murder Friday.

“It was a big relief,” said her brother Alex Baptiste. “We didn’t think anything like this was going to happen but we turned around and made sure that everything, you know, we stayed together, stayed strong, we prayed. God answered our prayers.”

Baptiste, 31, was from the Samson Cree First Nation in Alberta, and the mother of four children ages five to 13.
