James Bay Cree fear declining caribou herd

For most of us, the picture of the Canadian .25 cents quarter is as close to the woodland caribou as we’re going to get.

That’s not the case for the James Bay Cree, at least right now.

But they fear that future may become a reality with a declining herd, as the number has dropped by half in the past decade.

Many point to logging as the culprit.

APTN’s Tom Fennario reports there is a way to save the herd – if everyone agrees to it.
