Inuit Christmas party in Yellowknife a rhyming good time

It’s that time of year when holiday celebrations are taking place across the North

‘Twas a week before Christmas, when all through Yellowknife,

Inuit Kattujiqatigitt hold a gathering larger than life.

The babies are nestled, all snug in their Amautis,

While folks smile and feast on delicious Christmas candy.

The games are a plenty – people bustle about,

After two long years when a pandemic put the event on timeout.

Charlie and daughter Jamie Kudlak spend months organizing,

Tiring work, but the smiles make it so energizing.

Since 2018, the not-for-profit’s been growing,

With dreams of expanding and projects ongoing.

While the high cost of airfare makes it hard to go home,

It’s a nice alternative so there’s no reason to roam.

Well wishes are given as the night come to close,

With gratitude in their hearts, for this Yellowknife Inuit family they’ve chose.
