Assembly of First Nations National Chief RoseAnne Archibald wasn’t in power long before some of the regional chiefs on the executive tried to oust her.

Archibald was calling for investigations into how money was spent at the national lobby organization.

At one of the AFN’s annual gatherings, Archibald was made the focus of the meeting that is generally held to deal with outstanding issues like safe drinking water and child welfare.

She survived a non-confidence vote and continues in her role today.

But do female Indigenous leaders face obstacles that their male counterparts don’t?
