In Nunavut some people are encouraged to call family when in trouble rather than RCMP

Family in Iqaluit says they’d rather handle problems on their own rather than calling RCMP.

Questions are being raised about whether the Ottawa police should be called in to investigate any incidents involving RCMP and civilians.

That’s because of racist comments that were posted by a Staff Sgt in the Ottawa police service.

But others say it doesn’t really matter – because they don’t trust the RCMP enough to call them in the first place if something is happening.
