Higher number of MMIW not a surprise to those connected to the issue

That there might be as many as 4,000 missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls is making headlines.

That’s the number used by a federal minister Tuesday.

And it’s one that doesn’t come as a surprise to those who have worked closely on the issue for years.
