The hearings into a controversial new prosperity open pit gold and copper mine in northern British Columbia wrapped up last week.

This is the second time Taseko Mines has proposed this development.

Their first proposal was turned down because a panel found the project’s tailings dump would destroy a nearby lake.

The latest proposal wants to move the tailings dump upstream.

Grand Chief Stewart Phillip addressed the panel as it wrapped up last week.

Phillip joined APTN’s Cheryl McKenzie from Vancouver Friday.
