In 1874, Treaty 4 was signed in Fort Qu’Appelle, Sask.

The governor general was supposed to come back every year to revisit the terms of the treaty.

But it took 142 years for a return visit.

Governor General David Johnston was in Fort Qu’Appelle this week to renew the treaty relationship.
