Florida Panthers sign Manitoba product

A First Nations hockey player has signed a pro contract with the NHL’s Florida Panthers.

Brady Keeper, 22, hails from Pimicikamak (Cross Lake) in northern Manitoba and plays defence for the University of Maine Black Bears.

Prior to signing the two-year deal, Keeper played for the Opaskwayak Cree Nation Blizzard and was named most- valuable player in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.
