This is so very true when it comes to gender equality. Woman don’t have the same rights as men in the Indian act.my great grandmother was full status Indian and she’s only allowed to pass down status to one generation. Bill c-31. Mcivor changes the law again in 2010 for gender equality but inac still discriminates because of 1951. Changes to the Indian act. I don’t have my status card because of discrimination and I am also in a court battle with inac over this issue.
There are also discrimination against children with the 6.1.d in the Indian act and enfranchisement. Male Children born full 6.1.a status at birth and there parents enfranchise these children were givin back only 6.1.d in 1985 status again unable to pass status down to there grandchildren .
These children were born with full
Status and later given a different category of life due to some law that inac has implemented into there policies.
Total discrimination goes against the charter of rights for these children and all woman.
