Fear of Winnipeg police widespread in FNs community

Before he filed his complaint against the police, Evan Maud was facing heat from the Winnipeg public.

On comment boards, posters wondered why Maud hadn’t filed a complaint and questioned his allegation that police had taken him on a starlight tour to the edge of the city.

Many Aboriginal people, however, understand Maud’s reluctance. Fear keeps many from complaining about the police to the police.

APTN National News reporter Meagan Fiddler explains.
