Cree Nation cancels events over police assault allegations in Val d’Or

APTN National News
It’s been a week since allegations surfaced of Quebec provincial police abusing Indigenous women in Val d’Or.

The James Bay Cree have decided to cancel events in the Quebec city as an act of retaliation.

But some people in the community feel they’re being unfairly targeted by the boycott.

APTN’s Tom Fennario has the story.

Producer Nouvelles Nationales d'APTN / Montreal

Born and raised in Montreal, Tom cut his teeth working in community television in Kahnawà:ke Mohawk Territory before joining APTN as a cameraman/editor in 2008. In 2015 he was promoted to Video Journalist. Since 2019 Tom has been a producer for the French weekly newscast Nouvelles Nationales d’APTN.
