It’s a volatile situation made worse by the dwindling salmon population.

Each year, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans signs commercial sales agreements with First Nations.

This year, however, there was no agreement and there are concerns that this could lead to confusion and confrontation on the water.

APTN National News reporter Rob Smith found out, one fisher says good riddance because the deals were a rip-off anyway.
