Committee hearings end on proposed federal child welfare legislation

The last committee hearing into Canada’s proposed child welfare law was held in Ottawa Tuesday.

The Indigenous Affairs committee heard from several witnesses who had both good, and bad things to say about Bill C-92.

One of the bill’s goals is to give Indigenous communities jurisdiction over child and family services.

The House of Commons Indigenous and Northern Affairs committee heard various ways to improve it.

One common theme throughout the 20 hours of hearings the committee has had is – money is a must.
